Eva John is a believer in change for the better starting with the small steps taken by each individual; small steps that build into something bigger. Eva was born in Montreal and she grew up in Toronto and Ottawa, where the driving force of the Federal Government was an every-day routine. Both of Eva's parents worked on the Civil Service: her mother worked in The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and her father was a director in The Secretary of State: People's Rights and Freedoms as well as Energy, Mines and Resources with an early career as a producer with The CBC on the landmark programme, 'This Hour Has Seven Days", hosted by Patrick Watson, Laurier LaPierre, John Drainie and Dinah Christie. 

So it was no surprise when Eva jumped in to volunteer in the Liberal Leadership Campaign to replace out-going Prime Minister, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, to support the people's grassroots candidate, former Minister of Agriculture, Eugene Whelan by working with Minister Whelan's First Nations Liaison on platform development for First Nations issues. Eva John has always seen the world as limitless field of opportunity. Her natural sense of fairness compels her to help others to break down the barriers that stand between them and their own enriching experiences and opportunities. 

Eva John promotes volunteerism and mentorship. On a visit to an African crafts shop in Etobicoke, Ontario, Eva turned a cheerful ten minute conversation into a week-long African Studies Spring Break camp for children which she herself taught in the extra space of that very store. The store's owners later presented Eva's lesson plan to the Africentric Alternative School in Toronto. 

In 2011, 2012, and 2013, Eva participated in the Enbridge Ride To Conquer Cancer in honour of her father, who battled heroically for fourteen years with multiple-myeloma until May 16th, 2013. The Ride To Conquer Cancer is a 210 km bike ride organized for the purpose of raising funds for cancer research. Eva and her daughter rode together on June 8th and 9th, 2013 in memory of her father, C. Alexander Brown, holding hands as they peddled their bikes over the finish line in Niagara Falls, Ontario. 

Three months after her father's passing, her mother was also diagnosed with cancer. 

Eva John is also a former children's entertainer, having performed on screen and stage with Young People's Theatre, Theatre Fountainhead, The National Black Theatre, in Harlem, and on TVOntario's 'Polka Dot Door', to name a few. In recent years, Eva John has been managing and booking Canadian rock artist, Paris Black and renown Bono impersonator, Matt Easter. 

As Councillor for Ward 3, Eva John will bring her passion and caring for people, which has been carefully formed with the guidance and tutelage of some of Canada's finest political heroes.
